There are approximately 2.3 million TIN registered individuals as at end July 2024. It was noted that some of the TIN holders have received some text messages or letters from Department of Inland Revenue requesting the payment of Income tax.
Finance Minister clarified that the TIN holders who are not earning more than Rs. 100,000 are not required to comply with this notice, as they are exempt from Income tax.
Individuals can inform their status to the nearest regional office of the Inland Revenue Department to avoid any further proceedings.
